IMI are delighted to be supporting the upcoming African Mediation Conference, “Transnational Commercial Mediation: Leveraging Options and Intersections in Africa”, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) in Nigeria. “The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators is the professional body of dispute resolution practitioners in Nigeria with the mandate to regulate the practice of Mediation, train prospective Mediators, and encourage organisations and institutions to adopt Mediation as the primary means for resolving disputes.

This year, the Institute is partnering with numerous notable Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) institutions in Africa, and beyond, to interrogate the issues and developments surrounding the business of Mediation and International Commercial Mediation in Africa. Some of the organizations partnering with ICMC are; the International Mediation Institute, the African Arbitration Association, the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, the Kigali International Arbitration Centre, the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators, Mediation Training Institute (East Africa), Mediation Training Institute (Nigeria), SEDIN-NICOP GIZ Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (East Africa), ODR Africa Network, iResolve, Lagos Court of Arbitration, Janada International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre, Abuja Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre, and the Pan African Lawyers Union.

ICMC has assembled highly-qualified Mediators from across the globe to contribute to the discourse on the theme and sub-themes; “Cultural and Practical Dilemmas in Transnational Mediation” and “The African Business Environment and the Singapore Convention: Prospects and Ideals.”
