The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators is the professional body of dispute resolution practitioners in Nigeria with the mandate to regulate the practice of Mediation, train prospective Mediators, and encourage organisations and institutions to adopt Mediation as the primary means for resolving disputes.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference has been an annual event of the Institute and this year is no exception. This year’s conference will seek to interrogate the various approaches through which dialogue, mediation and conciliation can be effectively harnessed to foster peace, security, harmonious cooperation and sustainable development in a polarised society such as Nigeria.
To this end, the theme for the 2021 Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference is “Dialogue, Mediation and Conciliation: A Panacea for Managing Polarised Societies” It will feature a plenary and two breakout sessions, to consider topical issues around the following sub-themes:
I. The place of Dialogue, Mediation and Conciliation in Effective Mitigation of Conflicts in a Polarized Society
II. Aligning Mediation Skills Accreditation and Certification Trainings with Mediation Practices for Peace Building, Security and Sustainable Development in Nigeria
