IMI currently recognises two main groups of programs:
- IMI Qualifying Assessment Programs, which assess experienced mediators/advocates for the purpose of IMI Certification and Specialisation such as Online Mediation or Intercultural Competence;
- IMI Certified Mediator Training Programs, which deliver quality initial training to new mediators. Those mediators may be listed as IMI Qualified Mediators.
Many stakeholders, whether representing mediators, users and their organisations, or organisations delivering training or assessment programs, have pointed out that this is a little confusing. Following the recent IMI all-QAP meeting, and with the support of the Board, we would now like to ask you as IMI stakeholders what you think these programs should be called.
We have set up two polls in software that allows you to add your own answers, and vote on the suggestions provided by IMI or other alternatives suggested by the community at large. We ask that you vote in these polls; it’s a matter of mere moments. The results will inform nomenclature updates. If the term you were thinking of is not there, feel free to add it; people will then be able to vote on your proposal alongside all the others.
