About ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC)

ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC) is a national non-profit organization that provides national leadership in the development and promotion of negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and other Alternative Dispute Resolution/Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR) services in Canada and internationally.

ADRIC is represented throughout Canada by seven Regional Affiliates which process applications from their membership for ADRIC designations in their respective regions.

Users of ADR services, lawyers and other professionals referring clients feel confident when they choose an ADR professional with a designation granted by ADRIC because they are choosing an individual whose performance has been reviewed and assessed by a committee of senior and respected practitioners who have verified that the professional is working at a particular level.

Congratulations to ADR Institute of Canada!!!

The integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into mediation introduced a need to identify specific recognized competencies vital for mediators practicing with ICT.

The IMI Competency Specialisation in Online Mediation will help users to make informed decisions while choosing and appointing e-mediators for negotiations and Dispute Resolution (DR). It will also help competent and experienced online mediators promote their ICT advanced services.

Professionals who pass the assessment of the ADR Institute of Canada ODR-QAP are qualified for IMI Online Mediation Specialization and may have their Profile included on the IMI Find a Mediator Search Engine.

Note: Those who have completed an IMI Specialisation, i.e. Online Mediation or Intercultural Competence, are not eligible to the title ‘IMI Certified’ or ‘IMI Qualified’ unless they have been separately approved as such. Unless this is the case, they are known as ‘IMI Online Mediation Specialists’ or ‘IMI Intercultural Mediation Specialists’. Those who are IMI Qualified/Certified can use the title ‘IMI Qualified/Certified Online Mediation Specialist’.

Mediators who are IMI Qualified or Certified pay a one-off fee of 100 EUR to have the Specialisation added to their existing IMI profile; mediators who gain a Specialisation without being Qualified or Certified must pay 225 EUR per year listing contribution until they are Qualified or Certified.

IMI is the only organisation in the world that transcends local jurisdictions to develop global, professional standards for mediators and advocates involved in collaborative dispute resolution and negotiation
