Feedback digest by Ellen Kandell, 17 Jul 2018 This feedback digest is based on 10 mediation participation forms from 10 mediations, and was initially submitted in July, 2015. Louise was uniformly rated as highly skilled and all evaluators would recommend her to others. Seventy percent resolved their issue in mediation. Of the 30% who didn’t these cases were in the divorce context with ongoing issues and all of those parties commented that they derived a huge benefit from mediation and that the process was worthwhile. Uniformly, all participants referred to Louise’s patience, her neutrality and her vast skill in assisting parties to clarify and explore issues as well as assisting with navigating the decision making process. Her use of insightful questions was a common theme that many participants appreciated. One participant, nervous about participation in the mediation process, referred to Louise as a godsend. Another participant, commenting on Louise’s patience said she encouraged the parties to “take time and do it right”. Several commented that Louise’s superior listening skills contributed to the successful outcomes. Louise created a safe environment for participants to identify issues and discuss them openly. In a business dispute, her ability to bring the group to consensus was fostered by the preparation in advance of the facilitated discussion, a key to the successful outcome Louise helped them achieve. Some comments in the divorce context expressed dissatisfaction with cost but another commented that it was cheaper than what his friends experienced. Another participant, in a business dissolution dispute stated that the fees were appropriate for the skill set the mediator brought, implying that it was well worth the expense. Most participants were referred to Louise, by colleagues, other attorneys or friends, a further testament to her fine reputation and excellent skills. Finally, there were no reportable negative comments in the feedback forms.
