Svetlana Sergeyeva is an Attorney with more than 14 years of experience, Mediator (DeutscheAnwaltAkademie) and Expert on ADR.

She has an experience in supporting legal entities and individuals in different cases in Ukraine and abroad.

Mrs. Sergeyeva is a Vice-President of Ukrainian Academy of Mediation, one of the most famous and key organizations in Ukraine in the field of Mediation and ADR.  

Svetlana has a significant experience in managing and organizing the work of a law company, determining the development strategy of a law company.

She is an extensive experienced speaker and moderator of professional conferenses, forums, round-tables. 

Svetlana supervised of the regional branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association and has an extensive experience in holding and organizing events, conferences, forums for lawyers and mediators.

She is a mentor of students and young lawyers and judge at the students negotiations competitions.

Svetlana is involved in all main processes of developing mediation  in Ukraine.

Among them are the following:

  • Conducting analysis of legislative framevork in the field of mediation regarding to the best European practices and standards;
  • Conducting a comprehensive anylisis identifying categories of cases in civil and commercial jurisdiction where mediation in can be applied identifying in details:
    1) cases in civil jurisdiction where mediation would be reasonable and effective for unloading the judicial system (including cases where mediation is already applied in Ukraine, as well as cases where mediation is not widespread, but could be applied);
    2) cases in commercial jurisdiction where mediation would be reasonable and effective for unloading the judicial system (including cases where mediation is already applied in Ukraine, as well as cases where mediation is not widespread, but could be applied);
    3) categories of cases in which it is expedient to introduce mandatory pre-trial mediation meetings (to evaluate the possibility of mediation application).
  • Research and preparation of the roadmap for the development of mediation in Ukraine;
  • Work on the research and preparation of the roadmap for the development of a out-of-court mediation model in Ukraine;
  • Creation, adjustment of all processes and management of professional communities in the field of mediation.
  • Significant experience in communication and negotiation;
  • Working with the legal community to raise awareness of lawyers and the population and legal authorities about Mediation in order to improve access to justice.

I would characterize my style of work with parties (clients) as focused on their needs and interests, where they can see the most perspectives for their conflict resolution. I try to show them perspectives and also work with alternatives.

Svetlana is obtained a Masters Degree in Institute of European Law of the Odesa National Law Academy (2004) and admitted to the Bar in Ukraine (2008).

Svetlana completed her studies as a Mediator in Deutsche AnwaltAkademie and received a  qualification Attorney-at-Law-Mediator.

As a professional mediator, she is constantly improves her skills: 

Advanced training on mediation techniques;

Training under the program “Peculiarities of Mediation in the Field of Family Relations”;

Training under the Program “Professionalization of a Family Mediator”;

Training under the program “Family Mediation with the Participation of Minors”;

The course “Family Financial Mediation” by Frank С. Laney, the mediator of the Supreme Court of the North Caroline, the member of the Academy of Family Mediators (USA);

Specialized course for mediators “Fundamentals of Restorative Justice”;

Training for advocates and mediators by Frank С. Laney “Negotiations and their peculiarities. Negotiations with persons making decisions”, Ukrainian Academy of Mediation, the USAID;

MiKK trainings: Cross-Border Family Mediation and Child Abduction, International Child Abduction Cases, The Hague Child Abduction Convention and Return Mechanism.

Mrs. Sergeyeva has a significant experience in conducting seminars, lectures for attorneys (Regional Bar Associations) in various regions of Ukraine on the mediation procedure.
