This guide explains how organizations with IMI-recognized programs can notify IMI of newly qualified or certified individuals, support profile completion, add feedback, and request updates to existing IMI profiles.
Adding Newly Certified Individuals
When a mediator or mediation advocate/advisor has been assessed through an IMI-recognized assessment program, the organization should notify IMI by completing the relevant online form.
The form will ask for the individual’s personal information and certification type.
Once IMI receives the request, IMI will create a user account for the newly certified individual. The individual will receive an automated email from the IMI website with instructions to set their password, log in, and complete their profile.
The individual should pay particular attention to:
- uploading a profile photo;
- adding active locations;
- adding working languages;
- completing all required profile information; and
- ensuring that any required feedback or reviews have been added.
Until the profile is complete, it will be marked as incomplete and will not appear in public search results.
Once the profile has been completed and the required feedback has been added, either the individual or the assessing organization should contact certify@imimediation.org to request that the profile be marked complete.
The individual may then make the applicable listing contribution through the Support Our Work page.
Supporting Newly Certified Individuals with Profile Completion
When a newly certified individual is added to the IMI website, their profile is initially marked as Incomplete – New Certified. While a profile remains incomplete, it may not appear in public search results.
Organizations with approved Qualifying Assessment Programs (QAPs) may be able to support newly certified individuals by reviewing and editing profiles marked as Incomplete – New Certified.
To edit a profile:
- Go to the individual’s profile page.
- Click the gear icon next to the profile image.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Add or update the relevant profile information.
- Save the changes.
Organizations with Qualifying Assessment Programs (QAPs) may also be able to review incomplete newly certified profiles through the relevant restricted-access page on the IMI website.
Once the profile has been completed and the required feedback has been added, please contact certify@imimediation.org to request that the profile be marked complete.
Notifying IMI of Mediation Training Graduates
Organizations with IMI Recognized Mediator Training Programs (RMTPs) may notify IMI of newly trained individuals who have successfully completed an RMTP and may be eligible to become IMI Qualified Mediators.
Organizations may do this by submitting the list of graduates through the relevant form on the IMI website. This form is accessible to organizations with active RMTP recognition.
Alternatively, organizations may share the individual registration link with their graduates so that graduates can register directly.
Graduates will be asked to upload their course certificate. The certificate should include the date of completion and the IMI RMTP logo, where applicable.
Listing Fees for IMI Qualified Mediators
Where an organization collects the one-time registration listing fee for IMI Qualified Mediators on behalf of IMI, the fee should be remitted directly to IMI in accordance with the applicable agreement with that organization.
Where the organization does not collect this fee, IMI will collect the fee directly from the individual.
When submitting newly trained individuals through the IMI website, organizations will be asked to confirm:
- how many individuals are being submitted; and
- whether the organization has already collected the applicable fee or whether IMI should collect it directly from the individuals.
Organizations should not collect any other IMI listing fees on behalf of individuals, including annual listing fees.
Adding Certifications and Specializations to Existing Profiles
When an individual with an existing IMI profile is approved for an additional IMI Certification or Specialization, the assessing organization should notify IMI through the relevant online form.
This may include, for example:
- IMI Mediator Certification;
- IMI Mediation Advocacy Certification;
- Intercultural Competence Specialization; or
- Online Mediation Specialization, where applicable.
IMI will then update the individual’s profile to reflect the additional certification or specialization.
Adding Reviews and Feedback
Feedback or reviews should be added by an approved reviewer.
Reviewers should have their own IMI username and password. Organizations with recognized Qualifying Assessment Programs (QAPs) or Recognized Mediator Training Programs (RMTPs) may act as reviewers where applicable and may be able to add reviews directly to individual profiles.
If a reviewer does not yet have a user account, please contact certify@imimediation.org to request one.
Organization Login and Support
If your organization does not appear to have access to its IMI organization login, or if your login does not provide the expected access for your recognized program, please contact imisupport@imimediation.org.
Passwords can be reset through the IMI password reset page.
For any questions about submitting individuals, updating profiles, adding feedback, or organization access, please contact certify@imimediation.org.
