In line with the recent Changes to the IMI Certified Mediator Training Program (CMTPs) Scheme, we share important updates regarding the revised policy on IMI Qualified Mediator Registration and Annual Subscription Fees, effective from January 8, 2024.*
Fee Adjustments and New DEI Policy
In the past, IMI provided IMI Qualified Mediator listing services free of charge, requiring only a one-time €50 registration fee (‘one-time listing fee’). In response to the evolving landscape, and to ensure the sustained quality and availability of IMI’s services, starting from January 8, 2024, IMI is implementing a new fee structure. This includes an annual listing fee of €75 in addition to the one-time registration fee. Aligned with our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), discounted listing fees will be available in specific jurisdictions. This initiative is part of IMI’s upcoming DEI Policy, aimed at cultivating a more inclusive mediation landscape and ensuring accessibility for a diverse range of mediation professionals.
New Fee Structure and Enhanced Benefits
These updates grant access to upgraded functionalities previously exclusive to those who opted for an upgrade, associated with an annual fee of €50. IMI Qualified Mediators subscribing to the annual listing fee will now benefit from enhanced profiles, offering a more comprehensive view of their professional development and qualifications, significantly boosting visibility and career opportunities.
IMI Qualified Mediator One-time Registration Fee – Revised Pricing
Starting January 8, 2024 the one-time Registration fee for listing as an IMI Qualified Mediator will be either €75 or discounted fee, contingent on the DEI Policy.
Introduction of the IMI Qualified Mediator Annual Listing Fee
- Mandatory Annual Listing Fee
For all new IMI Qualified Mediators, an annual listing fee of €75 or discounted fee is now compulsory, with the specific amount contingent on the DEI Policy. The annual listing fee comes into effect either January 8, 2024, or January 8, 2025, depending on the applicability of the grace period. Please refer to the relevant section below for more information.
- Inclusion of Upgraded Features
Every IMI Qualified Listing will now include upgraded features, formerly known as “Upgraded Profiles” or “Qualified+.” These enhanced profiles offer a comprehensive insight into a mediator’s professional development and qualifications, significantly increasing their potential for diverse work opportunities.
- Continuing with Former Upgraded Profiles
Those who choose to maintain an “Upgraded Profile” or “Qualified+” can continue paying the annual fee of €75 or discounted fee.
Grace Period to Begin Annual Subscription Fee Payments
Note: Approval of IMI Qualified Mediator applications occurs upon payment of the listing fee, with this date determining the applicability of the grace period.
- IMI Qualified Mediators Registered Prior to 2023: Begin annual listing fee payments from January 8, 2024.
- IMI Qualified Mediators Registered in 2023: Receive a one-year grace period exempting them from annual fees until January 8, 2025. After the grace period expires, they will be subject to the annual listing fee payment.
- Note: This grace period does not include upgraded functionalities. Access to these features begins upon the commencement of the Annual Subscription fee. For example: someone approved in 2023 won’t have access to upgraded functionalities from January 8, 2024. However, during the grace period, they have the option to opt in.
Exclusive Benefits for IMI Qualified Mediators
In adapting to the new fee structure, IMI has introduced enhancements that not only include mandatory annual listing fees for new IMI Qualified Mediators but also provide a range of exclusive benefits, fostering greater professional visibility and opportunities. IMI Qualified Mediators continue to enjoy distinctive privileges:
- International Designation and Profile Listing: IMI Qualified Mediators maintain an international designation and profile listing on IMI’s website, showcasing their expertise globally.
- Young Mediators’ Initiative (YMI) Membership: IMI Qualified Mediators can join the YMI, a unique networking space connecting early-career mediators worldwide.
- IMI-YMI Mentorship Framework: Eligibility to participate in the IMI-YMI Mentorship Framework, offering a structured program to support and guide IMI Qualified Mediators in their professional growth.
- Since March 2022, YMI exclusively accepts new members from the pool of IMI Qualified Mediators.
Applicability of the DEI Policy
Until the DEI policy is implemented, IMI Qualified Mediators will continue to pay the regular fee of €75. Upon its enactment, an option to transition to the reduced fee will be provided. In January 2024, IMI will initiate the review process to assess the eligibility of inclusion of CMTPs in the DEI policy.
Non-payment of the IMI Qualified Annual Listing Fee
Failure to remit the annual listing fees will lead to delisting. If you wish to be reinstated, kindly submit a request via email to certify@imimediation.org. Settling the outstanding IMI Qualified Annual Listing Fees is required for reinstatement, unless the temporary delisting is a result of enumerated life and professional circumstances
Summary of Fees and Important Dates
Effective January 8, 2024, the following fees apply:

IMI’s Funding and Mission: IMI is a non-profit foundation, currently funded entirely through mediator listing contributions and donations from mediators, as well as the organization application processing fees. *Please note that IMI has allowed for an additional grace period of two months. Therefore, the Updated Policy will be effective from March 2024.

Hi Amee, Can you please confirm that as a CMTP program which registers in cohorts, recent graduates that the statement above; “In the case a CMTP registers jointly its successful graduates, IMI will waive the listing fee for the first year for IMI Qualified Mediators registered by their respective CMTPs” confirms that we can continue our process and the new Qualified Mediators will receive one year with the upgraded features and that they will be billed (not our organization) at the completion of the year grace period?
Thank you.
Dear Jamie,
Exactly, that is the intention.
