The European Commission recently solicited comments on a proposed Regulation (2018-238) intended to promote fairness and transparency between online services and their clients. The proposed Regulation includes provisions for complaints resolution and (online) mediation, and IMI proposes that it incorporates established IMI quality standards for mediation services. IMI have since contributed to discussions via teleconference with the Commission’s internal team.

EU Intellectual Property Office
IMI representatives are part of the EUIPO’s Stakeholders Advisory Board (EUIPO ADR-SAB), looking into efficient ways to resolve IP disputes. The EUIPO ADR-SAB draws together public institutional and private business representatives to work on holistic and coordinated lines of action in furthering dispute prevention, de-escalation and resolution with the aim of ensuring that the services offered are first-rate and meet real commercial needs and interests, in particular those of SMEs.
