IMI is accepting new QAP applications from 30 May 2025

We are happy to announce that IMI’s appraisal process will reopen on 30 May 2025 for: Qualifying Assessment Programs (QAPs), Mediation Advocacy QAPs (MA-QAP), and Intercultural Competency QAPs (IC-QAPs).

Due to a need to re-evaluate the CMTP criteria, the CMTP process will remain closed as announced earlier (please see this news item).

Here you may express your interest in the appraisal process, so that we may inform you of further developments, and so we can plan our resources accordingly:

IMI-approved programs span 72 organizations across diverse regions. Of these, 32 are assessment-only (QAP) organizations, while 9 organizations provide assessment and training.

What are QAPs and CMTPs?

Qualifying Assessment Programs (QAP):

QAPs meet IMI’s independent criteria for assessing mediators. Successful registration means your programs adhere to international standards for experienced mediators. QAPs evaluate whether a mediator possesses the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills to receive IMI Certification. Certified mediators are recognized as IMI Certified Mediators  – the gold standard in certification. To apply, please ensure your organization meets the QAP criteria and submit your application here – this link will reopen on 30 May.

Mediation Advocacy QAP (MA-QAP)

MA QAPs qualify candidates as IMI Certified Mediation Advocates/Advisors. To apply, please ensure your organization meets the IMI Mediation Advocacy QAP criteria and submit your application herethis link will reopen on 30 May.

Intercultural Competency QAP (IC-QAP):

Organizations can assess mediator cultural knowledge and skills, qualifying individuals as IMI Intercultural Mediators. To apply, ensure you meet the IC-QAP criteria and submit your application here – this link will reopen on 30 May.

Certified Mediator Training Programs (CMTP):

CMTPs provide training that meets international standards. Successful registration means your training programs comply with these standards, making your graduates eligible for IMI Qualified Mediator status, which is associated with an international designation and a profile listing on IMI’s website. To apply, please ensure your organization meets the CMTP criteria and express your interest to apply via the above form.

Organizations may hold both QAP and CMTP status.

Please note that organizations applying for any of the above programs are required to pay an application processing fee. Additionally, CMTPs are subject to an Annual Listing FeeAll programs undergo audits every two years, which incur a fee for the audit process. Importantly, QAPs and CMTPs that do not successfully complete the audit will lose their IMI recognition.

All fees, including the CMTP Annual Listing Fee and audit fees, are subject to IMI’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy and may include VAT based on your organization’s location. For information on potential discounts based on income level and human development classification, please review the policy and fees.
