The International Mediation Institute (IMI) is proud to endorse the Public Statement for Peace and Resilience, an initiative of the Hague Humanity Hub.
This statement, issued during The Hague’s Just Peace Festival, calls for a balanced approach to peace and security by urging greater and sustained investment in building resilient, inclusive, and just societies.
By endorsing this statement, IMI joins other individuals and institutions committed to a more peaceful world in calling on leaders, civil society, and international institutions to:
- Support the vital contributions of peacebuilding and humanitarian organizations worldwide.
- Champion policies that recognize addressing root causes as a vital part of our security approach.
- Ensure that the pursuit of peace remains a shared and resourced priority.
- Increase investments in stable institutions, equitable economies, and the rule of law.

Further, we draw attention to Mediators Together, an initiative born from the collective expertise and commitment of mediators worldwide, including IMI Certified Mediators Andrea O’Neil, John Sturrock, and Kenneth Cloke.
At the heart of Mediators Together lies a strong belief in the transformative potential of dialogue. According to Marshall Ganz, “Hope is the belief in the probability of the possible rather than the necessity of the probable.” Such hope is embodied in the work of Mediators Together, which demonstrates how effective mediation may transform what appears necessary into what is achievable.
Guided by the principles of the Edinburgh Declaration of International Mediators, Mediators Together promotes respectful dialogue and ethical action while working to de-escalate and resolve disputes at all levels. Through solution-focused approaches for both governing bodies and individuals, the initiative fosters a more resilient and cooperative global community.
We are confident that this initiative will have a lasting impact and urge all those committed to conflict resolution to sign the declaration and be part of this movement.
“Now is the time for mediation to put its best foot forward in a world which desperately needs to find new and better ways of approaching conflict and difference.”
