IMI – International Mediation Institute is delighted to be a supporting organisation for the upcoming “ADR Lawyers 2025 – Redefining Legal Practice Through Appropriate Dispute Resolution” Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s legal profession is entering a transformative era – one that values collaboration, communication, and constructive resolution over confrontation. On 29 November 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, UDecide Mediation (Sri Lanka) and Sage Mediation (Singapore), in partnership with the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), the International Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (IADRC), and with institutional support of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), will host ADR Lawyers 2025, a one-day symposium designed to equip lawyers with the tools and insight needed to thrive in a resolution-focused future.
A First-of-Its-Kind Forum in Sri Lanka
ADR Lawyers 2025 marks the first forum of its kind in Sri Lanka, bringing together the country’s leading ADR service providers under one roof.
It also highlights the Bar Association of Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering a resolution-focused legal practice, working in harmony with ADR service providers such as UDecide Mediation, Sage Mediation, the International Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (IADRC), and the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
This collaboration represents a defining step toward integrating mediation, negotiation, and hybrid dispute resolution processes into mainstream legal practice, aligning Sri Lanka’s legal community with evolving global standards and future-ready approaches.
With Sri Lanka having ratified the Singapore Convention on Mediation and now preparing to pass its own Civil and Commercial Mediation Law, the timing of this forum could not be more significant. It supports a national shift toward a culture of resolution and aligns the profession with international best practices at a moment when over one million cases remain pending before the courts.
The Vision Behind ADR Lawyers 2025
“Meeting Client Needs by Mastering Resolution-Focused Legal Practice.”
As client expectations shift, today’s lawyers must do more than litigate – they must lead conversations, preserve relationships, and deliver solutions that align with business, community, and individual interests.
The ADR Lawyers 2025 Symposium responds to this national and professional need by helping practitioners modernize their approach, strengthen client trust, and redefine the role of the lawyer in society.
