The International Mediation Institute is happy to announce the Unified IP Summit 2026 organized by the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court, in collaboration with OxFirst and the University of Ljubljana.
About the PMAC
The Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) serves as a specialized institution for resolving patent disputes through mediation, arbitration and other appropriate dispute resolution processes. The PMAC is an integral part of the Unified Patent Court, with its governance and finances embedded within the UPC’s overall structure.
The aim of the PMAC, which operates with two seats in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Lisbon, Portugal, is to offer institutional support and facilities for proceedings concerning resolution of patent disputes within the jurisdiction of the UPC related European disputes.
With the aim of improving efficiency and flexibility, the PMAC supports appropriate dispute resolution (ADR) methods, providing effective pathways for resolving patent disputes and advancing the UPC’s objective of offering alternatives to litigation. Disputants could refer to the PMAC either their pending litigated disputes at the UPC or any other disputes, which are not litigated.

We will also be especially pleased to welcome the Director of the PMAC, Mr Aleš Zalar, who is also a member of IMI’s Advisory Council.
About the Unified IP Summit
The summit will bring together members of the ADR- and legal communities, such as judges, arbitrators, mediators, technical experts,
litigators, CEOs, and academics. It will be hosted on the 1 and 2 June, at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Law (Poljanski nasip 2).
The summit features two parallel forums:
- 14th IP & Competition Law Forum
- 1st PMAC Dispute Resolution Forum
About the Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony of the PMAC in Ljubljana is also scheduled for 2 June. It is set to mark the official opening of the new centre in promoting effective approaches to intellectual property dispute resolution across the world.
