Although I did not know Michael as well as others. There is one vivid memory of him that stands out in my mind. It was in Singapore, at Chijmes, just a short distance from where I now work — a coincidence, perhaps, or a twist of fate. I was living in Malaysia at that time and had visited Singapore for the Global Pound Conference. We had a memorable conversation that evening, centered on the brain’s role in negotiation and conflict, a topic that clearly fascinated him. I believe he was working on his book, “Things Corporate Counsel Need to Know but Were Not Taught,” at the time. It was a project close to his heart, and one that brought together many minds, including Jeremy Lack, who contributed a chapter on neuroscience. What struck me most about Michael that day was how easy it was to talk with him. Despite my natural shyness, the conversation flowed effortlessly, a testament to his deep curiosity, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering kindness. In that brief encounter, he left a lasting impression, one of a person who genuinely cared about others and was always eager to learn and share. Michael may no longer be with us, but I know that his spirit and the connections he made will live on in the memories of those who had the privilege to know him.
