Very sad news indeed. I remember fondly my many encounters with Michael in Brussels, London, Milan, Rome and elsewhere, sitting with him in panels, at conferences or during our several one-to-one lunches. He tried to convince me of the utmost importance of ensuring the lawyers and the general public of the quality of the mediators, being the main reason for creating IMI, and I remember insisting on other elements in view of ensuring the blossoming of mediation. At his initiative, we co-authored an article titled Mediators in Need of Momentum: ADR in Europe, published in the Financial Times in December of 2002. I felt honoured and blessed to consider him a mentor and a friend. May he rest in peace, the very peace the achievement of which he so ardently pursued.
