Join the International Mediation Institute (IMI) for a discussion dedicated to uncovering the vital link between mediation and professional ethics in the context of the International Week of Integrity 2025, in collaboration with ICC Netherlands.
This one-hour panel, featuring experts Ellen Waldman, Lola Akin Ojelabi, Mary Walker, and Omer Shapira, will provide an overview of integrity as a foundational principle in mediation. The session aims to explore specific ethical standards and integrity challenges that mediators and parties face, ultimately promoting the ethical use of mediation within the global business community.
The panelists will dissect the IMI Draft Code of Conduct, detailing how the code divides principles of ethics into actionable components. This includes the ethical exercise of professional integrity by the mediator, maintaining separation of roles, and the requirement to take reasonable steps for the prevention of process abuse. Furthermore, the discussion will focus on the mediator’s obligation to guarantee procedural fairness and assist the parties in making informed decisions of their own volition.
In line with this year’s key theme, “A Culture of Integrity”, the panelists will also incorporate essential cultural context into the conversation. They will highlight practical ways to promote a culture of integrity among mediators and mediation organizations through raising awareness of ethical behavior, fostering accountability, creating consultation forums, and establishing a disciplinary pathway.
This session is a must-attend for anyone committed to ensuring integrity remains at the heart of dispute resolution.
Join the panel discussion free of charge. We hope to see you online!
