This Feedback Digest includes feedbacks in 5 Mediations as of June 20, 2009. Independent reviews from several respondents reveal Ms. Guilhen is a highly sought after and well respected Mediator. She consistently received top scores in all questions of the IMI performance review. She is said to be prepared, organised and neutral, as well as professional and having a good grasp of the personalities involved. She has the knowledge, experience and composure to listen to what is being said. She is outstanding at getting to the core issues in dispute particularly as to the emotional/psychological components that have otherwise been barriers to settlement. Ms. Guilhen is described as being someone who is non-judgmental, is able to keep things on track and is able to encourage participants to take responsibility for creating their own solutions as well as being fair, impartial, knowledgeable and wise. She is able to quickly convince parties that they should trust her with their confidences and to work hard to understand the parties’ positions and help them convert those positions into interests. She deals aggressively with impasse, allowing the parties to reflect and then convening them in order to achieve a resolution of the issues in dispute. Ms. Guilhen says that mediation is all about listening to people, understanding where they are at, helping them to get to the root causes of their conflicts and allowing them to address issues face-to-face with the persons they are in dispute with. This empowers them to resolve issues themselves, with the help of the mediator. Ms. Guilhen has attended, on several occasions, the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
