Mediation Profile

I am the founder and CEO of Consensus, one of the leading international organisations for mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution training. With more than two decades of professional experience, I have designed and delivered mediation processes for multinational companies, public institutions, and international organisations. My focus lies on complex, cross-border cases, often involving intercultural dynamics, diplomacy, and systemic transformation.

In addition to my practical mediation work, I advise supervisory boards and public bodies on conflict-sensitive governance and stakeholder dialogue. I regularly speak at global forums and lead the International Mediation Campus, which has trained professionals from over 80 countries. My approach combines strategic process design, intercultural sensitivity, and a deep commitment to constructive, interest-based solutions.

With over 20 years of experience in mediation and conflict resolution, I have facilitated more than 1,000 mediation processes across sectors, cultures, and jurisdictions. My work focuses on complex, multi-stakeholder cases in organisational, cross-border and public contexts. I have mediated in highly sensitive environments involving international institutions, governments, corporate actors and civil society stakeholders.

In addition to mediating, I design conflict resolution systems, coach senior leaders, and advise organisations on dialogue architecture and negotiation strategy. As the founder and CEO of Consensus, I have built one of the most active mediation institutions worldwide. My expertise is rooted in international practice, intercultural competence, and the ability to combine process neutrality with strategic clarity.

My mediation style is interest-based and transformative, with a strong focus on emotional dynamics and process architecture. Grounded in my PhD research on the role of emotions in negotiation and mediation, I bring deep insight into high-conflict situations and emotionally charged dynamics.

I work with a calm, structured and empathic approach that supports parties in shifting from positions to underlying needs – especially in intercultural and multi-party settings. I tailor each process to the specific context, integrating strategic clarity, psychological safety and the space for genuine dialogue. My practice is informed by over two decades of international experience and a commitment to building lasting, trust-based outcomes – even in polarized or seemingly deadlocked situations.

Training and Education

I hold a Master’s degree in Mediation from the Faculty of Law and have completed over 1,200 hours of mediation-specific education and training. My formal certification meets the requirements of the German Mediation Act (§ 5 MediationsG), and includes in-depth training in negotiation, ADR processes, and legal, psychological, and intercultural aspects of mediation.

In addition, I hold a PhD focused on the role of emotions in negotiation and mediation, which informs my approach in complex, high-conflict settings. I have pursued further specialisation in transformative mediation, conflict system design, and cross-border mediation. As founder of a globally active mediation academy, I continue to train and supervise mediators around the world.

As founder and director of the International Mediation Campus and Consensus Campus, I have trained and mentored hundreds of mediators from over 80 countries. My programs include accredited certification courses (IMI, SIMI, CAO) and are delivered in hybrid, online, and in-person formats.

I regularly mentor early-career and advanced practitioners in areas such as intercultural mediation, workplace and organisational conflict, and complex multi-stakeholder processes. I also supervise real-life mediations and coach mediators in high-conflict and diplomatic settings. My training approach is practice-oriented, reflective, and focused on empowering independent, professional mediators who act with clarity, empathy and strategic awareness.
