I had my first meaningful mediation as an advocate in 1997 when a federal court ordered a very hotly contested franchise dispute to mediation. The experience lead me to believe in the benefit and potential of mediation, and motivated me to train to become a mediator. I've been 40 years litigation franchise and commercial disputes, and now say that mediation is a much more powerful tool for resolving disputes than litigation can ever be.
