This Feedback Digest is based on [34] feedbacks in [34] mediations initially submitted on [Dec 2005]. Email: Amanda@AmandaBucklow.co.uk, Website: http://www.AmandaBucklow.co.uk Style: The selection of feedback represents a wide range of disputes mediated and there are strong themes emerging from the comments offered by parties representatives demonstrating commitment, managing parties extremely well and demonstrating the much vaunted but rarely realised balance of people skills and commercial understanding. It is clear that parties and their representatives really value the amount of effort that Beverly-Ann puts into the mediation day and they note her apparently bottomless reserves of patience and creativity which are essential to finding a resolution. In the small number of cases where a resolution was not reached, there is always an acknowledgement of her having done "everything possible". Parties are "won over" by her patience and understanding and she has, as one commentator put it, "a great ability to get into the skin of the clients and see what they want and what they don't want." A second theme emerging is Beverly-Ann's even-handedness and ability to convey with conviction the impartiality that is the mainstay of mediation. This is closely linked with comments about building rapport and trust early in the process thereby engaging parties in sharing information which helps everyone get to where they want to be. Beverly-Ann is at the same time non-threatening and firm; "an iron fist in a velvet glove". She is considered and measured in her contributions to the solution and has no need to be "forceful" or insistent on particular aspects. She will, however, be challenging and at times directive once the relationships with the parties have been well established as described in one comment: "Clients are delighted with her performance, describing her style as tough when necessary and displaying both warmth and humanity." A favourite quote: "Mixes pragmatism and commerciality with compassionate insight into the people involved in the mediation." Process Management: Beverly-Ann is noted as having excellent command of the process skills leaving everyone feeling that they are part of a productive process even when the going gets tough. One Summarising Quote: "Over the last 20 months we have all been trapped in a nightmare which, at times, we believed would never end. I doubt I can convey adequately the strain and anxiety experienced by all of us. Our relief that it is all over is overwhelming and for that we have you to thank. Finally, we can all move on. We will remember you sensitivity, patience, determination and good humour. You were quite magnificent." This summary represents a fair and balanced view of the responses received and reviewed.
