This feedback digest is extracted from 15 of 21 mediation feedback documents from October 2018 and February 2020, which I have reviewed.
Judge Aluoch has effectively mediated in family disputes involving land, property and child support. She conducts herself with admirable ease in the sensitive and complicated area of family dispute. She naturally commands a firm authority as a Mediator but with the sensitivity and understanding of either Party in Family and Children disputes. She blends authority and empathy which gives Parties a sense of guidance and comfort which are pertinent in creating a safe environment for Parties to feel involved. Her listening and attentiveness attributes have been singled out severally by Parties in disputes.
Further, Judge Aluoch is highly commended by users of her services for professionalism, punctuality to sessions, organization in the mediation process as well as guidance on the mediation ground rules. Her patience and understanding whilst communicating with Parties has given them a sense of being heard and accommodated while presenting their disagreements. Her commitment does not merely stop at a Settlement Agreement, but it ensures that relationships are restored and that Parties establish some sort of peaceful co-existence/collaboration post-Mediation. It is evident from several feedback forms that her calm demeanor and unwavering dedication to pursue the task have been key enablers.
Despite her professional background and vast knowledge of the Law, Judge Aluoch demonstrates absolute restraint in exercising the same but instead utilizes her skills to navigate the unpredictable terrain of family dispute. Highly noteworthy has been her unique ability to meaningfully interact with diversity of persons from different walks of life. She has successfully guided them to break down disruptive discourses with many parties reporting feeling totally attracted to her persuasive approach, fairness and neutrality. Indeed, several opinions reflect that parties would use her and recommend her services to others.
Her affiliation with FIDA Kenya shows her altruism and is a motivation to her fellow Mediators and Mentees who often look up to her for inspiration and aspiration.
