Feedback Digest
This Feedback Digest is based on an interview I conducted with Alina on 1 July 2022.
Alina is a lawyer who has found mediation through her past work in the Courts in her native Ukraine.
Alina stated that very often the Judicial System provides answers for lawyers but not for the people. This observation had prompted her to research and started her mediation training in 2013.
She has extensive knowledge in mediation, its principles, philosophy and ethical considerations.
She has trained hundreds of mediators in Ukraine and continues her work currently in Lithuania, due to the unfortunate war happening in her country.
She has been instrumental in assisting her government in Ukraine to develop mediation legislation.
She has conducted in excess of 100 mediations, most of them in the commercial area.
The model she uses is a facilitative model, however she adequates the mediation model to the needs of the parties.
Alina is very enthusiastic about the benefits of mediation in the resolution of disputes but acknowledges that it is not the panacea for the resolution of all disputes.
She is also experienced in conducting mediations with community groups, the government sector and in house mediations.
She uses her legal training to guide her clients ( she does not suggest or decide) to identify their needs and interests and find a resolution by themselves.
