Feedback digest by Jeffrey Hand, 15 Jul 2018 This Feedback Digest is based on 20 feedbacks in 15 mediations initially submitted on July 2009. Mediator: Barbara Cornish Reviewer: Jeffrey Hand Email: jhand@singleton.com Date: July 21, 2009 Ms. Cornish has been a mediator for more than ten years. Much of her mediation work involves repeat business from various institutional clients who have used her services in the past, and this indicates a high degree of satisfaction with Ms. Cornish’s mediation skills. Many of those parties have recommended her services to others. The mediation style most often used by Ms. Cornish, while founded on an interest based model, involves providing the parties with feedback on the merits of the case. Most parties utilizing Ms. Cornish as a mediator desire a mediator who is willing to provide objective non-binding feedback to the parties concerning the relative merits and corresponding risks and contingencies associated with the claim being mediated. This reflects a high degree of respect and confidence in Ms. Cornish’s legal knowledge and confidence in her ability to grasp and distill the issues arising in a wide range of legal disputes. Ms. Cornish has mediated a variety of different claims, including bodily injury, insurance, commercial contract disputes, work place and employment law matters, professional negligence, and human rights matters. Counsel who have used her services noted her ability to manage not only the mediation process, but also to manage the parties themselves, and to keep them engaged in the negotiation process and focused on their issues and interests. Her listening skills and compassion were cited as key strengths. Her ability to move matters forward in an expeditious manner was also cited, not only as a strength, but as a reason to engage Ms. Cornish on subsequent matters. No negative feedback was received.
