The French Institute for the Certification of Mediators (IFCM) certifies the professional practice of mediators through an independent and comprehensive competency assessment process. IFCM does not provide mediation training but evaluates mediators’ real-world experience, ethical commitment, and professional competence.
As the only French Qualifying Assessment Program (QAP) accredited by the International Mediation Institute (IMI), IFCM aims to promote transparency and raise standards of mediation practice in France and internationally.
IFCM is also a member of the Alliance of Organisations for Mediation Standards (AMS) and certifies mediators who meet the Alliance’s shared requirements under a mutual recognition framework among member organisations.
To apply for IFCM certification, and in accordance with IMI requirements ( http://imimediation.org/qap/ifcm ), candidates are invited to confirm their interest by submitting a letter of intent explaining their motivation for seeking certification, along with:
- Proof of mediator training,
- Evidence of at least 20 mediations, including 6 within the past 12 months, verified by participants or invoices,
- A signed commitment to adhere to a code of ethics (national or European),
- A valid professional civil liability insurance certificate.
