Honduras ratifies the Singapore Convention and Australia signs on

As of 28 September 2021, the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, also known as the “Singapore Convention on Mediation” has 55 signatories, of which seven are parties to the Convention. A full list of signatories and parties to the Convention is available on the UNCITRAL website: https://uncitral.un.org/.  Further up-to-date information on the Convention and its status, including an overview of the implementing legislation of the Parties to the Convention, the official preparatory documents from the UNCITRAL Working Group II negotiations (Travaux Préparatoires) and other useful resources, may be found here.

With the deposit of the instrument of ratification, Honduras becomes the seventh State Party to the Singapore Convention on Mediation. The ratification by Honduras was effected on 2 September 2021 and the Convention will enter into force in this state on 2 March 2022. Australia signed the Convention on 10 September 2021.

The Singapore Convention on Mediation facilitates international trade and promotes mediation as an alternative and effective method of resolving commercial disputes by providing an effective mechanism for the enforcement of international settlement agreements resulting from mediation.

The Convention is open for signature, ratification, and accession by States and regional economic integration organizations.
