SMC administers its own survey to evaluate and review its mediation services and skills of the mediator. Prof Lawrence Boo has been highly rated at Levels 4 and 5 (out of 5) by lawyers and parties whom he has acted as a mediator. Prof Lawrence Boo is one of the very few professional mediators in Singapore. He has been an active ADR practitioner and teacher since 1995 and has been associated with the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) since its inception. He serves on many government and quasi-government committees on trade and ADR including as a Member of the Advisory Board of the SMC. He has mediated more than 70 cases with SMC. A high proportion of Prof Boo’s mediations resulted in a resolution with a settlement rate of more than 80%. Based on the cases he had handled at the SMC, Prof Boo has always displayed professional deftness and ability to get parties to reach consensus even in the most complex and convoluted cases. Parties have described Prof Boo as “proactive” and who “perseveres” in giving parties the maximum opportunity to forge agreement on their differences. There are no negative reports on Prof Boo in the conduct of cases before the SMC.
