This Feedback Digest is based on 15 feedback in 24 mediations, initially submitted on Friday 15th April 2016. SMC administers its own survey to evaluate and review its mediation services and skills of the mediator. Ms Linda Heng has been highly rated at Levels 4 and 5 (out of 5) by lawyers and parties for whom she has acted as a mediator. Ms Heng has been lauded for her ability to control the mediation process. Feedback indicates that she has the effect of diffusing a discord while allowing a healthy venting of disputed issues. She achieves this by allowing a constructive sharing of views which bridges the gap of miscommunication, whilst containing attempts to have opposing views attacked. This sets the stage for a reconciliation of otherwise strongly held and polarised positions. Participants in Ms Heng's mediations consider her fair and unbiased. Feedback indicates that she is able to help the parties see and understand each other’s issues, and is able to help parties generate options. In addition, Ms Heng is recognised as being able to co-ordinate well and seamlessly with her co-mediators and experts. She is also able to follow the facts which give rise to legal issues. Last but not least, Ms Heng’s ability to handle parties’ heightened emotions, professionalism, calm demeanour, patience, tenacity and unselfish spirit, make her a very effective mediator.
