Stephen is a member of CEDR Chambers, CEDR's elite group of mediators. He has conducted c. 200 mediations as mediator with values up to £250M in a very wide range of commercial and civil law disputes, both domestic and international.
He has over 30 years' experience as a barrister in commercial and property law in a wide range of civil and commercial cases, with particular expertise in media, telecommunications, entertainment and sports law. He is the author of 'Resolving Business Disputes / How to get better outcomes from commercial conflicts' (Spiramus, 2020).
In the past 16 years Stephen has been mediating regularly for CEDR and has further developed his ADR skills through his arbitration practice as a Chartered Arbitrator, FCI Arb. Stephen also sits on/with a variety of regulatory (sports and medical) tribunals. He is listed / recommended as a leading mediator in the Legal 500 (2021) and Who's Who Legal (2020) directories.
In mediation work Stephen uses forensic and legal skills from his experience as a barrister in a non-confrontational manner that nonetheless challenges each side constructively, drawing out essential issues in a dispute.
